Random Unboxing! My First BeautyBox Five Box!

Last month, I bailed out of Escape Monthly due to a number of reasons. And, decided to hop on with GlossyBox and BeautyBox 5.

Today, I received my first BeautyBox 5! I had a promo code when signing up that got me the last month's box for free. However, I was sent the Beauty Box 5 September 2014: Balancing Act box. I'm totally cool with that- just trying to get to know the company and the box! And they were really quick with shipping and tracking info!

Here's some info on BeautyBox 5:

What it is: Beauty Box 5
Where to get it: beautybox5.com
How much is it?: $12 monthly with 3 month and annual subscriptions available
Types of Products: Each box contains 5 luxury deluxe or full sized beauty products.
What are the Perks?!: Beauty Box 5 is relatively new, they are working on rolling out a referral program shortly!

Now, without further ado...

BeautyBox 5 September 2014: Balancing Act
Unboxing and Review!

The exterior of the box is nothing too crazy. So, let's start with...

Upon Opening:

BeautyBox 5 also supplies a nice little menu:

Our Haul!

1. Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon in Moss:
Full Sized Item! Listed At: $4.49

I'm a little sick with the flu right now, so bear with me. In some lighting in my apartment this looks more greenish. In other lighting, it looks more grayish. I also may be delusional at the moment and way too sick to walk to the other side of my apartment to swatch the color- I also don't want to contaminate it before I even get to use it.

Regardless, I like cream eyeshadow sticks. I was mildly disappointed when Sephora had the Hello Kitty cream eyeshadow sticks on clearance last year and all mine ended up being so crappy. So, when I get the chance to try a new one, I'm a happy camper. This is also really affordable- so I wouldn't be heartbroken if/when I accidentally break it like I tend to do with liners like this.

First item from Beauty Box 5 is a win!

2. Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner and Co-Wash:
2 .5 Oz Sample Packs. Full Sized Listed At $19.99

Now, I'm a little iffy on this. I'm pretty huge on hair masks and samples. But, I really hate these little sample packets. They just pretty much force you to use everything in the pack in one fell swoop. Normally I don't form a lasting opinion or memory about a one sample trial products. And, I feel the same way about them as I do perfume samples- they should be free and shouldn't count as an item paid for in deluxe boxes.

A great example of a nice hair product sample was Ipsy's May 2014 60ml Eva-NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask which I have used multiple times and still have some left. It's grown on me a lot and I've really started to like it.

Also, this is by FUBU- which I find a bit nefarious...

Moving on!

3. Sally Hansen Toe Spacers:
1 Pair, Listed at $1.99

These are cute! I will use these. If the people of the internet only knew the stupid position I get myself in trying to paint my nails in my tiny bathroom- I would be interrogated why I haven't bought them before. I dunno! Maybe I will from now on!

These are utilitarian and great to have. A little on the inexpensive side. Annnnd Sally Hansen is pretty much a household name when it comes to nails already. So, it's not really an innovative product. But, that's ok.

4. My Beauty Spot Nail Polish in Purple:
1 Polish, Set of 6 Listed At $24.99

I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, I love purple nail polish. On the other hand, I'm a little hesitant to fall in love with a polish that I can't seem to find online anywhere and apparently only comes in a $25 set. Hmmm.

But, it's a pretty color. And, I like to think that all purple nail polish is good nail polish. So, it's a winner for now.

5. Dr. Lin Acne-Spot Corrector:
Full Sized! Listed At $8.99

This to me is another win. I've never heard of Dr. Lin. The product is fairly inexpensive. And, I can give this to my fiance when he has a pimple instead of using my good Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum - which he gets everywhere.

I like this box. Although I feel it is a bit more utilitarian than some of my other subscription boxes- which I was expecting while doing my research- it does well.

I'm looking forwards to my first real time subscription from BeautyBox 5 for December 2014.
And, I will give my first experience a 7.5/10!
