They allow you to cancel any time.
What You Get:
A new beauty box every month with 5-7 deluxe samples and beauty tools. Birchbox leans more towards generally face, hair, and hand/body products. Other than lip items, they are not as heavy on make up as other subscriptions tend to be, But, I feel like they curate nice combination of products every month.

The Pros and Cons of Birchbox- Is it right for you?:
Birchbox is probably one of my favorite subscription boxes (for many reasons) and hopefully it will become yours as well.
If you are new to subscription boxes, I personally feel that like Ipsy, BirchBox is a GREAT starter box.
Here are some important details to help understand if Birchbox is right for you:
The Pros:
1. Birchbox is only $10.00 + tax a month for subscribers. It doesn't break the bank.
2. Birchbox's customer service is unrivaled. It's not hard to find people raving about Birchbox's customer service online. From makeup forums to reddit- the consensus in generally unanimous: Birchbox has absolutely AMAZING customer service. My Birchbox December 2014 was an absolute mess. From receiving numerous broken products to items I just would NEVER use. I won't go into the whole story now considering I have 2 separate blog posts on how floored I was with Birchbox's customer service. But, you can read them here if you'd like: Birchbox December 2014 2.0 , Birchbox December 2014 1.0. Normally if you contact Birchbox customer service via email, they will get back to you RIGHT away. They always answer the phones and they will help you ANY way possible. Everyone there is amazingly nice, friendly and engaging. And I have generally always had an AMAZING experience dealing with Birchbox!
3. Best Points System out there! Unlike Ipsy, Birchbox has another unrivaled addition to joining. And that is their points system. To break it down, for every item you review from your monthly Birchbox, you receive 10 points added to your Birchbox account. When you reach 100 points, you are able to redeem these points in the Birchbox shop. The points do expire after a year. But!! And this is a HUGE but (haha)- you can combine points! That means, you can save up and earn 100, 200, 500, etc points to use in the Birchbox online shop OR their SOHO store! You can also earn 50 points for every person you refer!
4. Birchbox Aces! Birchbox Aces is another perk that Birchbox employs in keeping their customers amazed with their service. You can earn Birchbox Aces status by earning 500 BB points in 1 calendar year. The aces program provides free shipping, concierge services, exclusive shop offers, anniversary perks, and other surprises! You also get early access to Birchbox's Sample Choices or Editor's Choice Box.
5. At least 2 options for your box every month! My whole deal with beauty boxes is that you rarely, if ever, get an entire box that is filled 100% with items you want. Many people swap their items. You can check out my swap board to get an idea. But, Birchbox gives you at least 2 options every month to get at least one or a few items you'd like. The first option is always the surprise box where you can pick 1 sample choice and be surprised with the rest. The other option is the Editor's Choice box where Birchbox invites other companies (such as Buzzfeed) to curate a list of items that you know you will be receiving. A great example of two boxes is Birchbox's December 2014 options.
6. The Birchbox online and SOHO shop. I have heard murmurings that people have seen items for sale at the Birchbox shop to be more expensive that their typical retail value. I have NEVER personally seen this and the Birchbox shop has always been amazing to me. I mentioned above that you can always redeem points for items you've been wanting in the Birchbox shop. But!! Make sure not to miss all the amazing samples that you can add on in the Birchbox Bonus Shop.I was FINALLY able to get the Laura Mercier Setting Powder and Mini Fan Brush sample that I was DYING to try that way.
The Cons:
Being that Birchbox is not only one of my favorite subscription boxes, but also one of my favorite companies out there (for all the reasons mentioned above), I don't have too many cons about subscribing. But, here are a few things that you should be aware of!
1. Birchbox is not a makeup subscription! If you are looking for a subscription that is primarily makeup, Birchbox may not be the right choice for you. I'll kindly point you over to Ipsy, Boxycharm, and others. Yes, you will often receive makeup items. But, I find that Birchbox has an overall full beauty product experience for every box. Meaning, you will most likely receive 1 or 2 makeup, face, hand, hair, or body products every month.
2. Broken items can be a pain! I have ranted and raved about how AMAZING Birchbox's customer service is and I have never had an issue with replacing broken, leaking, and/or missing items. And the interaction with Birchbox is ALWAYS pleasant. But, I am aware that this is a problem that often occurs for Birchboxers. In reality, it only takes a quick phone call or email to get it resolved. But, if this is something you don't want to deal with AT ALL (I'm not saying that you will ever have to. But, it does happen), then you may not want to go this route with your subscription choice. Though it is so rare that it's happened and I personally don't feel like it's that big of a deal.
Overall, I'm in love with Birchbox and they have continuously provided amazing products, customer service and support, and perks to keep me a happy subscriber. Birchbox is a great fit for both newer subscription box users as well as veterans. They provide amazing surprises and fun items and events through out the year. And, overall, it's just a feel good company.
