Birchbox November 2015: Feeling Fancy

Unboxing and Review!

On top of getting another pretty box, Birchbox has finally been ON POINT with sending me items I actually want to try out! Check it out:

The Haul!

1. Darphin Paris Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum:
Sample Sized at 2 ml (Approx. $5.00). Full size listed at 30 ml for $88.00

Just in time for my face to go on the fritz moving into winter- I definitely need this! Although the sample size is a bit small- I hope there's enough of it for me to actually decide if I want to buy it. We shall see! But, I'm excited to give it a try.

2. LOC by Tati Vibrant Matte Lipstick in First Kiss:
Full Sized! Listed at .6 g for $8.00.

This was my sample choice. I LOVE the color and I'm actually really excited to try this out. Woo! A win! It swatched super smooth and has a nice, light vanilla scent.

3. Obliphica Professional Seaberry Hair Serum for Fine to Medium Hair:
Sample sized at 15 ml (Approx. $8.75). Full sized listed at 65 ml for $38.00.

Yay! Another hit with Birchbox actually paying attention to my beauty profile. I was a little worried at first that this was another Seaberry item like last month's Supergoop Hand Cream that smelled like old tea to me. But this actually smells great. Going into the winter, I'll probably need some hair oil for frizzies- so I'll hold on to this.

4. Parlor by Jeff Chastain Flexible Hold Hairspray:
Sample sized at .9 oz. (Approx. $3.50). Full size listed at 6.2 oz. for $24.00.

Really, the only loss for me. There has got to be a way to opt out of getting hair spray from these boxes. There has GOT to be a way! I get so much and I never use any of it (except for on Halloween). Meh.

5. Temple Spa La La Lagoon Aromatic Bath & Shower Gel:
Sample sized at .84 fl. oz. (Approx. $3.00). Full sized listed at 5 fl. oz. for $18.00.

I'm not going to say I'm truly excited about this item. But, it will be useful the next time Josh runs out of shower gel and forgets to tell me for a week and starts using my bubble bath!

The Final Verdict!
Box Value: Approx $28.00
 Box Score: 8/10

Final Thoughts: I've been very impressed with how much Birchbox has actually been paying attention to my beauty profile and providing items that I actually want. With the exception of the hair spray (please, God, no more hair spray!), I do like most of the items and I'm excited to try them out.

How was your Birchbox this month?

Ipsy November 2015: Beauty Blast

Unboxing and Review!:

This is another great month from Ipsy for me! I really feel like they're on the upswing for me. Let's hop right in and make a look!

I just want to point out I am absolutely IN LOVE with this galaxy bag. It's absolutely adorable!

The Haul!

1. Inspr Beauty Angle Liner Brush:
Full Sized! Listed at $10.00

Woo! Not only starting out with a full sized item- but an awesome tool to try out. I've never heard of Inspr. So this definitely interests me and I'm ready to test it out!

2. Figs & Rouge Mattifying Emulsion & Pore Refiner:
Sample sized at 15 ml (Approx. $18.00). Full size found for 30 ml for $37.20

Oooooh I love trying out new primers. Not only that, this is a half sized, deluxe sample worth close to $20. I really liked another Figs & Rouge product (hand lotion) that I received in an Ipsy October 2014. So, I'm excited to try this out. It smells amazing and swatched super light. Total win!

3. Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black:
Sample sized at .14 fl. oz. (Approx. $7.00). Full size listed at .38 oz for $20.00

This was kind of the only loss for me. Although I like Smashbox- I'm not a huge fan of this mascara and I have WAY too many mascaras right now. But, I'll probably put it away to save for later.

4. Model Co. Highlighting Trio in Champagne, Peach Bellini, and Bronze:
Full Size! Listed at 3 x 1.2 g for $22.00

WOOOOOO! You all know that highlighters for my thing for 2015! And I am absolutely in love with the fact that not only is this a full sized product- but it's also a highlighter! The colors are super light and interesting. As you can see from the picture- I've already dug in. Yay!

5. Tre'stique Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Natucket Nude:
Sample Sized at .7 g (Approx. $10.00 based on the cost of the 3 for $32.00 mini trio bundle on Tre'stique.com).

Although I'm totally over Tre'stique- they're getting way to invasive to Ipsy- I do actually like this nude color. It isn't terrible. So, although I wasn't crazy excited about it, I do like the product and will most likely use it. I'll consider it a win!

The Final Verdict!
Box Value: Approx $67.00
 Box Score: 10/10

Final Thoughts: With the exception of personally not caring for the Smashbox mascara- which I'm sure others generally like- this bag is a TOTAL win for me. From the galaxy print bag to actually really liking the Tre'stique lip crayon, I will actually probably use everything in this bag. Perfect!!

Unboxing! Ipsy October 2015: Alter Ego!

What it is: Ipsy Glam Bag
Where to get it: Ipsy.com
How much is it?: $10.00 monthly + tax
Types of Products: Skin, hair, body, and beauty products and make up.

Ipsy October 2015: Alter Ego

Unboxing and Review!:

As opposed to last month's 100% useless Ipsy bag, I am actually pretty pleased with Alter Ego. The only real complaint I have is that although I get the idea of having a two sided bag for Alter Ego, I really don't like the black pleather side of it.

Let's have a look!:

The Haul!

1. Aurora Gel Effects Nail Polish in Inky Dinky:
Full Sized! Listed at 12 ml for $12.00

Awesome! Starting out with a full sized product. Though this seems a lot darker than it is advertised at and I expected- I'll give it a shot!

2. theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed:
Sample Sized at 1.2 ml (Approx. $3.10). Full sized listed at 6.5 ml for $17.00

This is cute little lipstick and a pretty decent color. I'm excited to try it out!

3. Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion:
Sample Sized at 2 fl oz. (Approx. $1.50). Full size listed a6 16 fl oz. for $11.95

As opposed to my 50 cent hand lotion for ants from Birchbox this month, this is quite a nice, large sample. It's also completely cruelty free and vegan. I also really like how the Beauty Without Cruely website has suggestions on what type of essential oils and how much to add to the lotion to scent it. Awesome!

4. Emite Make Up Professional Slant Tweezers:
Full Sized! Listed at $25.00!!

Holy crap! $25 tweezers?? Although they're super cute and pink, I have a wonderful set of tweezers that I really love. It's a painful decision on whether I am keeping them or not. But, totally a win!

5. Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum:
Sample Sized at 14 ml (Approx. $16.80). Full size listed at 20 ml for 23.99

Winter is coming... and I'm stocking up on serums. I am super excited to try this as well! Woo!!

The Final Verdict!
Box Value: Approx $58.00
 Box Score: 10/10

Final Thoughts: Alter Ego totally makes up for last month's Ipsy- which I totally consider to be the worst Ipsy I've ever received. In contrast, this bag is one of the best! Not only does it include a nice selection of products that I will actually use- there are a couple full sized and higher end samples in there and it has a great value. Nice job winning me back Ipsy!

Birchbox October 2015: Positive Force

Unboxing and Review!

Besides the fact that I absolutely LOVE the design of the box, I have mixed feeling about my October haul. Let's take a look:

The Haul!

1. Dear Clark Thickening Balm:
Sample Sized at 1 oz. (Approx. $6.50). Full size listed at 4 oz. for $26.00

I'm totally happy that I finally got something from Birchbox that actually matches my beauty profile. What a day! This is probably one of the items I've been most excited to try in a long time (other than the Mally gloss from last month). Such a win!

2. Calypso St. Barth Figue Eau De Parfum:
Sample Sized at 1.5 ml (Approx. $1.90). Full size listed at 60 ml for $75.00

Why Birchbox? Why?

3. Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser:
Sample Sized a .5 oz (Approx. $2.00). Full size listed at 8 oz. for $32.00

Ok. I can give this a shot.

4. Malin + Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturizer:
Sample Sized at .1 oz. (Approx. $1.15). Full size listed at 4 oz. for $46.00

I would have really preferred to have received a larger sample of this to try out. Maybe vice versa with the cleanser. It just really seems like I won't get much use out of this foil pack.

5. Supergoop Forever Young Hand Cream:
Sample Sized at .14 oz. (Approx. $.47). Full Sized listed at 10 oz. for $34.00

Another sample for ants I see... and really? Not even $1's worth of product? Come now Birchbox. Although I'll probably end up using this- the scent kind of reminds me of old tea. I don't know- I'm kind of feeling gypped with the sample plus the foil pack and the perfume...

6. Benefit Roller Lash:
Sample Sized at 3 g. (Approx. $9.00). Full sized listed at 8.5 g for $24.00

This was my sample choice. Normally I'm not a fan of Roller Lash- I much prefer They're Real. But for some reason Roller Lash covers my lash extensions when I get make up on them much better than most other mascaras- so I figured I would stock up on an extra.

The Final Verdict!

Box Value: Approx $21.00

 Box Score: 5/10

Final Thoughts: I really don't know how I feel about this month's box. First of all, this is a very low value box with 3 samples for ants. But, I did like actually getting something that matches my beauty profile plus being about to stock up on a Roller Lash. Please though Birchbox- NO MORE PERFUME SAMPLES. I BEG YOU!

Glossybox September 2015

Unboxing and Review!

I'm kind of "meh" on this month's Glossybox. I don't love it and I don't hate it. But, I do feel like they're getting REALLY repetitive. You'll see...
Let's Take A Look:

The Haul!
1. 12 Benefits Love At First Lather Foaming Hair Shampoo:
Full Sized! Listed at 1.7 oz for $9.00
I'm actually interested in giving this a shot! It seems kind of cool!

 2. Julep Luxe Up Your Lips Gloss in Sheer Coral:
Full Sized! Listed at .42 oz for $24.00
This is what kind of annoys me. This is my 3rd month in a row getting a lip gloss from Glossybox. Not only that, I really feel like Julep is SO over priced for sub-par products. $24.00 for a lip gloss? Are you kidding me? Also- the box my gloss came in looks totally manhandled. Ew.

3. Biossance The Revitalizer:
Sample Sized at 4 ml (Approx. $4.70). Full Sized listed at 50 ml for $58.00
So this is something new and interesting. I'll give it a shot! And look at that cute bottle!

4. Emite Make Up Artist Colour Powder Blush:
Full Sized! .35 oz for $22.00
Wow! A full sized blush... that I can't use. This is WAY too dark for me. Such a disappointment. :(

5. Nails Inc Nail Polish in Uptown:
Sample Sized at .33 oz (Approx. $9.80). Full Size listed at .47 oz for $14.00
See, I don't understand this. I'm paying for a luxury box and they keep sending me sample sized nail polishes in absolutely horrific colors. This was definitely a disappointment.

The Final Verdict!
Box Value:Approx. $70.00
 Box Score: 5/10

Final Thoughts: Although the value is there - I'm not too impressed with this month's Glossybox. It's getting incredibly repetitive with multiple shampoos, lip glosses, and sample sizes of cheap nail polishes. I'm a huge Glossybox fan- but this month just doesn't do it for me.

Starlook's Customized Starbox August 2015

Unboxing and Review!

I am so happy to be on my second month of reviewing Starlook's Customized Box! I was honestly, c1ompletely in love with their July 2015 Customized Box and am pretty happy with this one as well! Being that I completely forgot the items I chose, this was an AWESOME surprise!

I'm really started to dig this subscription A LOT!

Let's Have A Look!:

The Haul!:

1. Slanted Liner Brush (824):
Full Sized! Listed at $18.00

Oooooh a full sized brush?? Yes please! I love liner brushes and was in desperate need a new one. Love!

2. Eyeshadow in Gold Coast:
1.6 g, listed at $13.00

At first glance, I was worried that this shadow maybe too dark for me. But it swatched so nicely and it gorgeous. Another win!

3. Long Wear Eye Pencil in Brun:
Size not available, listed at $10.25

As I am apparently in the process of building my eyeliner arsenal in case of a zombie apocalypse, I couldn't resist picking this liner. Although I normally do not wear brown liner, I think it will be very complimentary to the gold shadow. Look at me- curating my own box all crazy! I'm already a huge fan of Starlook's liners. So, this is kind of a shoe in!

4. Gift Cards:

I must have missed the step to pick out my gift cards this month because I don't remember choosing these. I also this they accidentally gave me a double by accident!

1. Torrain for $15.00
2. We Positive People for $17.00
3. (2) The Laboratory (unknown amounts)

The Final Verdict!
Box Value: Not counting the gift cards, the make up in this box is $41.25.

 Box Score: 10/10

Final Thoughts: Honestly, Starlooks has been hitting it out of the park for me the past couple months with the new Customized Box and Looks Book. The choices are awesome, I get what I want, and I am really digging everything. Love it all!
