Glossybox November 2015

Unboxing and Review!

Ugh! I've been away for so long- I've had a kind of moth crisis going on in my
apartment which has taken up all my spare time! But, now I'm hopping back into my unboxings and review and have a whole LOT of stuff coming up. First off the bat is a very underwhelming November Glossybox Unboxing. Let's take a look:

The Haul!:
1. Flora-py Floral Therapy Facial Sheet Mask:
Full Sized! 1 Sheet Mask ( .8 fl. oz.) listed at $8.00.

As a HUGE fan of sheet masks and anything rose scented- this seemed like such a strong start for this box. I'm really excited to try this and may feature this in an upcoming Mask Up Monday! However- it is one of the full sized items I did receive in this month's Glossybox and it is only a one time use item. So, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

2. Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy Lotion:
Sample Sized at 25 g (Approx. $5.50). Full size listed at 100 g for $22.00.

Right now, I really feel overrun with hand lotions. That being said, although I do like Crabtree & Evelyn products and this hand lotion is delicious- I also find it to be a really boring addition to this month's box. Crabtree & Evelyn has always felt like a mid-range, "mall" type product that's been around forever. So, although I like the product- I'm not impressed by it.

3. Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme:
Sample Sized at .17 oz. (Approx. $8.50). Full sizes listed starting at 1 oz. for $50.00.

This is another item that doesn't do it for me. Yes, Estee Lauder is high end and a staple in the beauty community- it's nothing new and exciting. I can just walk into any mall, department store, or any online beauty store to purchase this. Dare I say, this is boring.

4. Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in You're Toast:
Full Sized! Listed at 1.2 g for $24.00.

Wow. First off, I thought this was a sample sized product. It's super small. The shade doesn't do much for me. And, to be honest- I'm not the hugest fan of Marsk. I did receive another mineral shadow in another box quite a while ago and it just doesn't do it for me.

5. Beauty for Real D-Fine Perfect Lip Pencil:
Full Sized! Listed at .012 oz for $14.00.

This lip pencil is supposed to be a universal lip liner that works with any lip shade or shade. That being said, I don't really use lip liner. So, this is a wash for me as well. Oh well.

The Final Verdict!

Box Value: Approx. $60.00

 Box Score: 4/10

Final Thoughts: Although I have spent many months in love with all my past Glossyboxes, I really feel like that the boxes are falling off- quickly and significantly. In comparison to my past Glossyboxes- this is a kind of low value box. And it just feels incredibly uninspired. Estee Lauder and Crabtree & Evelyn are pervasive, known brands that you can pretty much pick up anywhere. The Marsk is not my favorite product and WAY over priced. The liner is interesting- but still meh for me personally. And, like I mentioned- although I LOVE sheet masks- I'm a little put off by the fact that one of my full sized items in this month's box is a one time use item.

The First Allure Beauty Box July 2015:

Winning Is Everything!

Unboxing and Review!

As I mentioned in my previous Sample Society post, Allure finally broke off from Beautybar.com to do their beauty box on their own. Here I have my very first one. Off the bat, the box doesn't seem much different from Sample Society. The packaging and booklet is basically the same and it costs the same as well. The only noticeable differences are we no longer receive the $10 beautybar coupon and there is no referral link.

Let's take a look:

The Haul!

1. Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer:
Sample Sized at 1 oz., Approx. $3.20. Full Size Listed at 8.5 oz. for $27.00

Significantly larger than the last Sample Society Bumble and Bumble product, I'm interested in giving this a shot. It smells awesome and seems really useful. Nice start.

2. Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50:
Sample Sized at .5 oz., Approx. $4.12. Full Sized Listed at 3.4 oz for $28.00

For all the years of beauty boxing, I have some how been able to avoid supergoop up until this month- where I got two items. Like I stated in my July Birchbox unboxing - I'm interested in trying this stuff. But, I'm not really going to go out and spend $30/$40 on sunscreen...

3. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II:
Sample Sized at .14 oz., Approx. $18.00. Full Sized Listed at .5 oz. for $65.00.

WOW! An $18 sample? I can dig that. However, I think I've enough of Estee Lauder eye stuff in any Allure beauty box. I want to try some NEW stuff!

4. Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray:
Sample Sized at 1.4 oz., Approx. $7.00. Full Sized Listed at 5 oz. for $25.00

Although this is supposed to be a "new" box- I'm not seeing anything really new. This would technically be the 3rd time I received an Oscar Blandi from Allure and I still haven't gotten rid of or used the first two!! UGH!!

5. Invisibobble Hair Ties:
$8.00 for a set of 3

I think these are really cool! I'm constantly losing hair things and I will take as many as I can get. They look like old school telephone chords. I can dig it!

6. Estee Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Daring Length + Volume Mascara in Black:
Sample Size unknown, Approximating $10.00 value

I just mentioned above that I'm getting sick of getting the same things from Allure. But two have two items from the same company in one box is pushing it for me. Meh

 The Final Verdict!
Box Value: Approx $50.00?
 Box Score: 7/10

Final Thoughts:  Lots of products, crazy high value, stuff I'll actually use. The only problem I see is such repetitive companies and products. I hope for more originality in the future.

Unboxing! Allure Sample Society December 2014: Party Prep!

What it is: Allure Sample Society Beauty Box
Where to get it: BeautyBar.com
How much is it?: $15.00 monthly + tax
Types of Products: General skin, hair, body, and beauty products and make up.
What are the Perks?!: Often includes a full sized product and monthly $10 coupon off $50 purchase on BeautyBar.Com

My first December 2014 Unboxing is here! As usual, first to the plate is Allure's Sample Society. Earlier this month, I posted the Sample Society Spoiler Here. On first glance, I was interested in the box. But, I wouldn't say insanly excited. That left me feeling uneasy about my Sample Society subscription after last month's underwhelming box. However, upon opening- my mind has been completely changed. I absolutely love this month's box! Let's have a look!

Allure Sample Society December 2014: Party Prep
Unboxing and Review!

Upon Opening:

1. RGB Nail Polish in Oxblood:
FULL SIZED! Listed at $18

It's always great to get a Full Sized product. This is first of a few for this month's Sample Society. The color is a new spin on a classic deep red. And, the name is reminiscent of a punk band for me- which I got a good chuckle about. I will totally use this polish- it is definitely a win!

2. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream:
Sample Size: 0.17 oz (Approx $10). Full Sized Listed At: 1 oz for $62, 1.7 oz for $92

Now, I'm not a huge eye cream fan- mainly because I don't feel like I need tons of anti-aging products around my eyes yet. It may be denial- it's just how I am. But, it's always great to get a substantial sample of a high end product like Estee Lauder. This sample comes nicely packaged and is known to work well. I think I may give it to my mom as a gift! In general, it's a win!

3. Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance:
Sample Size: 0.17 oz (Approx. $8). Full Sized Listed at 1 oz for $48

I really like this! A little goes a long way with this extremely shimmery lotion. I swatched maybe a drop on the back of my hand and the fluid spread evenly and significantly- but still felt light. The champagne color is gorgeous. This is truly a great product that I will definitely use to highlight for holiday parties! Another win!

4. Butter London Lippy Tinted Balm in Teddy Boy:
FULL SIZED! Listed At $20

Truthfully, I was really worried about this product. As I've learned from my many unboxings that generally subscription boxes like to send out deep or bright red or electric pink lip products. As I've said in the past, this annoys me to no end. Not only can I not wear these colors- I find it very unadventurous in regards to trying new products. However, Teddy Boy is a gorgeous soft pink that is highly pigmented and doesn't get anywhere. It looks great on me and I was happily surprised. Plus, it's another full sized item with very nice packaging and sturdy box!

5. Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra-Moisturizing Hand Therapy in Verbena and Lavender:
FULL SIZED! Listed at $8 for 25 g. Also available for $20 for 100g.

So, I'm not going to gripe and moan about this item. It's technically a win to me. Crabtree & Evelyn is a great company, this is a full sized item, generally the lotions work great, and it is packaged very nicely. That being said, I'm a HUGE lavender fanatic. As I have mentioned many times on this blog- anything lavender generally goes for me. Except for really fake, soapy smelling lavender- which I find Crabtree & Evelyn products to smell like. This was a little disappointing for me- but not the end of the world. And, I still love the company and think this is a winning addition to the Sample Society Party Prep box overall!

The Final Verdict!

Box Value: Although Sample Society listed this at over $46- I find the value to be closer to $60- which is awesome.

 Box Score: 10/10 !!

Final Thoughts: I am truly impressed with Sample Society's December 2014 Party Prep Box for a number of reasons:
1. I'm always happy to get a full sized product and feel incredibly good to have received 3.
2. This month's box was jam packed with true luxury, brand name beauty products.
3. All items had gorgeous packaging and look fabulous.
4. The Party Prep theme was cohesive and clear in the unboxing.
5. Unlike many boxes I have received in the past- I really feel that you can absolutely put together a great look from these products.
6. The general value of the box is even greater than I was expecting.

Great job Sample Society! I love my December 2014 Party Prep box!
