I am generally charged the first of the month every month for my Ipsy Sub, and they allow you to cancel any time.

A new makeup bag every month and 5 deluxe samples and beauty tools. Sometimes lucky Ipsters receive full sized products in their Glam Bag. But, Ipsy leans more heavily towards the deluxe sample size. The Pros and Cons of Ipsy- Is it right for you?:

Ipsy has been my longest beauty subscription and the beauty box that I feel the most familiar and confident about. I have been a subscriber since November 2012. Here's the most important info I would like to share about Ipsy with you!

If you are new to subscription boxes, I personally feel that Ipsy is a great starter subscription.

1. Costing a little bit more than $10 a month, it doesn't break the bank.

2. What's great about Ipsy is that they really send a huge network of companies that they work with and will most likely be providing you with new, exciting companies every month. It's a great way to expand your beauty product knowledge.

3. When you sign up for Ipsy, you also create a beauty profile that allows you to select your style, products you are or are not interested in, and can earn Ipsy points.

4. I would also like to acknowledge the fact that Ipsy has amazing customer service. Once- and only once- I received a broken item in my Ipsy bag. It was a Pixi lip balm that I really wanted to try that had opened up and gotten everywhere. Within a day Ipsy's customer care got back to me and sent out a new gloss!

5. Ipsy has a great trading system on their site and Facebook page that you can take part in to get rid of items you don't want or to trade for items you really want!

That being said, there are a few cons to Ipsy that I personally feel are important to be aware of:

1. Ipsy Points Perks tend to be a bit useless. It is not easy to get the usual 1000 Ipsy Points it normally costs to get a free item through Ipsy Points Perks unless you share Ipsy info on SM often and refer other people. I have currently been sitting on over 1000 Ipsy points that I haven't been able to redeem for months. When new releases are added to the Perks list, they sell out like lightning. If you're someone that loves to redeem loyalty points, you may be disappointed with Ipsy's system.

2. Beauty Profiles have recently seemed to be a bit misleading. It's pretty common knowledge that beauty box subscribers are not going to receive boxes with everything they've dreamed of in them. You'll never get all the sneak peeks you hope for and sometimes you'll get items you really dislike. Ipsy puts a lot of emphasis on curating a beauty bag that fits your personal look. But, I haven't felt that they've really followed through with this philosophy in many months. When I first started subscribing to Ipsy, I received quite a bit of products that did not match my complexion at all. I went out of my way to change up my beauty profile as well as rating every. single. item. that I have ever received from Ipsy. Personally, I saw no change in the uselessness of certain products I was receiving. Overall, I remain happy with Ipsy to this day. But, if you're in the market for just a makeup subscription or a body products- Ipsy's really not the way to go. Even if you opt out. Ipsy will still most likely send a product you don't want/like eventually.

3. Invasive Brands get... well... invasive. There are certain brands out there that have a cult following. I mean, I should honestly buy stock in Urban Decay if I could. But, there are also brands that are kind of generally disliked in the Beauty Box community for a variety of reasons. For some reason, Ipsy really likes to work with some of those brands. And, they do tend to show up a lot.

I have to really say, that I don't want these cons to throw anyone off about how awesome of a subscription Ipsy is. As a long time user, I have been pleasantly surprised and happy with my Ipsy bags every month for over 2 years except for one month. It is hit and miss. Some months, I love all 5 items and the bag comes out way more valuable to me. Some months I only like 1 or 2 items and the bag has less value and I'll trade the others for stuff I would really like to try. Sometimes, I think I hate a bag at first but then there's a few things I give a chance to and I fall in love. Ipsy is inexpensive, has great customer service, and is fun to take part in. It's definitely worth the price and has expanded my beauty horizon.
